The Dunboyne/Clonee/Pace corridor is one of the areas within county Meath into which future household and population growth will first and foremost be channelled. It is the area most likely to attract a concentration of major employment generating investment in the county and on foot of the high capacity multi-modal transport links that have been constructed in the Corridor, the goal for the Local Area Plan area is for it to become a self-sustaining settlement with a future population target of 15,000.
The Local Area Plan sets out a clear development framework for a six year period to guide the sustainable development of the corridor as a Dynamic Cluster within the context of the County Development Plan that reflects the significant economic and employment potential of the Corridor due to its location in the Metropolitan Area of the Dublin Region and existing employment and transportation infrastructure.
The preparation of the Local Area Plan required the undertaking of extensive public and stakeholder consultation and regular reports and briefings to the County Council executive and Councillors.
Meath County Council approved a Local Area Plan in September 2009.
