The Sisters of the Holy Faith sought planning permission for the construction of building on part of the parkland area to the south of the main buildings of the convent. The building, to be known as the Spirituality Centre, is to be made available to a wide range of users including the Holy Faith Sisters, Associates, Prayer Partners, lay colleagues and the wider community.
The site is in a south facing elevated location within the mature River Tolka corridor lands opposite the Botanic Gardens and overlooking Glasnevin cemetery.
The proposed building is striking in its conception and seeks to maximise the views over Dublin having due regard to the established landscape and historical context of the surrounding historic buildings on the site.
Given the site conditions, it was necessary to demonstrate that the proposed building was appropriate in terms of its design and location both on the site and within the established landscape.
